Questions & Answers

Q.   Will WPF help with sponsorship templates?

A.  Yes.  We will be sharing a template with federations along with some best practices in sports sponsorship which is currently being compiled.  WPF also wants to support any country that needs help and guidance in reaching out to sponsors.

Q.   Can we just send a men’s team if we can’t secure any good female players?

A.   The World Pickleball Games requires a minimum of 4 men and 4 women (max 6 men and 6 women).  Countries should select the top players of both sexes to represent their country. There is no minimum skill level mandated.

Q.  Will there be pre-qualifier games?

A.  No, every country is eligible to enter a team for the World Pickleball Games.  We wanted all teams to experience the whole event.

Q.  Are there any age limits?

A.  Not for the first World Pickleball Games.

Q.  Will there be a wheelchair competition?

A.  There will not be a specific wheelchair competition but any adaptive athlete is also eligible to be part of a country’s team.  If we were to have a separate adaptive games category (if demand) in the future, it would be alongside the games.

Q.  Is the format (7 matches per tie) set in stone?

A.  The Committee discussed this again and for the first World Pickleball Games it will be just the 7 matches for each country tie/fixture.

Q.  Will there be further WPG meetings?

A.  When there is a lot of information to impart that might lead to questions.  The next session is likely to be on securing sponsorship.
